Editorial Review
Cycling styles have gotten simpler, more classic. Going right along with classic looks are classic materials: Wool is making a comeback in a big way. Iconic New Zealand brand Icebreaker is the latest entrant to the game with its GT line of cycling clothing. The SS Circuit jersey here is made from a light, soft (and non-scratchy) merino wool that breathes well and has a nice, trim fit through the shoulders and chest. The rear pocket layout is serviceable, although I'd prefer three same-size pockets, rather than the small center slot and larger outboard pockets. Because wool isn't stretchy, you have to be careful when putting on arm warmers and such. The jersey is cut long enough in the back so as not to ride up when you're bent over the bars and hammering. The fashion graveyard is littered with the abandoned efforts of non-cycling companies to make technical riding gear, but Icebreaker's first effort is remarkably finished—stylish, comfortable and unique—they may be here to stay.—Joe Lindsay
